JOB DESCRIPTION:
The controller/accounting manager will maintain and enforce a documented system of accounting policies and procedures; oversee and perform all accounting operations, including managing accounting records, managing and performing transactions, preparing financial reports, formulating budgets, controlling cost and expenses, and forecasting expenses and revenues. This position will be responsible for coordinating and providing information to external auditors for the annual audit, and complying with local, state, and federal government reporting requirements and tax filings. In additional, the incumbent will take care of some HR responsibilities at the company’s initial starting up stage. It is expected this position will involve in the fund raising process. Key functions of the position are as follows:
• Maintain and enforce a documented system of accouting policies and procedures
• Oversee and performe the accounting operations: accounts payable and receivable, payroll, and bank reconciliations
• Maintain a system of controls over accounting transactions and provide cost reports
• Produce annual budget and forecasts
• Analyze variances from the budget and significant issues/risks
• Prepare financial statements and reports
• Coordinate and provide information to external auditors for the annual audit
• Comply with local, state, and federal government reporting requirements and tax filings

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
The candidate should have a bachelor’s degree in accounting or business administration, or equivalent business experience and 5+ years of progressively responsible experience for a major company or division of a large corporation. Preference will be given to candidates with experience in startup companies as a controller/accounting manager/senior accountant. CPA or CMA is a plus.
